Park Station Benefits: What Does the Plan Mean for La Mesa?


Economic Boost

Park Station would provide a boost to the local economy by generating up to an estimated $1.6 million annually in sales, property and hotel taxes for city services such as police and fire protection, parks and libraries. The plan would also create up to 450 permanent jobs in La Mesa, as well as hundreds of construction jobs.

Upscale Hotel

Another possible benefit of the project is the potential for a 200-room, upscale hotel to serve the needs of La Mesa families with out-of-town guests, visitors and local businesses and community groups looking for meeting and convention space.

Environmentally Friendly Smart Growth Design

The plan would utilize smart growth principles, offering local residents an opportunity to live and work near convenient public transit and community services. Park Station would also integrate environmentally friendly materials and designs to promote a healthy lifestyle. The community would feature drought-resistant native landscaping, and all buildings would utilize water-conserving features and Energy Star rated appliances.

Parks and Open Spaces

Park Station would offer local residents numerous amenities to improve quality of life, including a new 50,000-square foot, tree-lined park with children's playground facilities. The plan would also promote walkability by providing open courtyards, landscaped paths, wide sidewalks, and large buffers between pedestrians and vehicles.

Shopping and Dining

New ground floor shops and restaurants along Baltimore Drive would provide residents with convenient shopping and dining opportunities.
