Site History

The site the Kitzman family hopes to revitalize with Park Station has been owned by the family for 50 years. Currently, it is home to auto industry lots and businesses.

Given the site's prominent location, adjacency to the trolley station and overall shortage of land in the region, developing a smart growth community on the property would be an optimal land use for the community.

The American Legion - La Mesa Post 282

To the south end of the site is La Mesa Post 282 of the American Legion. Chartered in 1923, the Legion has been at this location since the late 1920s.

The Legion is a co-applicant on the Park Station project application, which means they are joining the Kitzman family in requesting an amendment to the zoning on their property. If the city approves the project proposal, this arrangement provides the Legion with the flexibility to incorporate their Post into the Park Station project, potentially relocate or stay exactly where they are.
